Case For Support
In the pursuit of fulfilling our mission, our primary goals are to promote inclusive community involvement, facilitate complete accessibility across all areas of life and support interdependence among all community members.
Accomplishments
Currently serving 281 persons with disabilities through our independent living center, more than a 30% increase over those served in 1999.
Utilizing the services of 28 volunteers to provide support services for the center as well as peer support counseling. These volunteers donated nearly 3540 hours of time, valued at over $25,000.00.
48 client cases were closed having met all goals and continuing to live independently. This represents an increase of 92% from 1999.
How Accomplishments Have Been Recognized
In 2003, the Brain Injury Association of Colorado awarded our Center with a plaque for Outstanding Support Group.
The Center has countless personal letters and cards from clients expressing appreciation for the services and support received that has allowed them to live more independent and productive lives.
Southwest Center for Independence has had a representative on the Govenor's Statewide Independent Living Council from 1998 through 2003.
Southwest Center for Independenceis one of ten certified Centers for Independent Living in Colorado.
